ABOUT HANNAH NESS
I am currently perusing a BS in Apparel Textiles and Merchandising with a minor in Apparel Design at Central Washington University. My expected graduation date is summer 2021. I chose to peruse an education in the fashion industry because I have always been drawn to creative outlets. The Apparel, Textiles and Merchandising program has exposed me to a wide breadth of knowledge through hands-on learning and industry fieldtrips. My senior year of college has almost entirely been distance learning. Due to this I have built both my communication and time management skills. I am able to quickly adapt and embrace changes which is vital during this time.
I have an excellent work ethic; I have worked for the same company since 2015 and have been offered promotions within each position I have held. I have held a wide range of leadership positions both in work and at school. I was in Management at Starbucks for 3 years and have learned a lot of valuable skills through this role including time management, task delegation and how to lead a team. I was also the staging lead for the Spring 2019 Fashion show in which we had to plan and complete the stage layout and set up in a short time. For the 2019/20 school year I was an Ambassador for the Apparel, Textiles and Merchandising program which I speak with prospective students at events about the program, create social media postings and other duties for the program.
Along with being a full time college student I am also an apparel section-head at a local retailer (Fred Meyer). Holding this position while studying the apparel, textiles and merchandising industry has been extremely beneficial. I am able to apply my knowledge from my classes hands-on at work.
